Cinnamon’s Resurgence: How Cinnabon is Leading the Spice Comeback
Cinnamon is undeniably having a moment in the culinary world, and Cinnabon stands out as one of the biggest beneficiaries of this trend. According to Restaurant Business, more chefs are embracing cinnamon’s warm, nostalgic qualities than in recent years. Cinnabon has expertly ridden this wave, achieving the best growth year in its company history.
Rapid Expansion Amidst a Competitive Fast-Food Landscape
In 2025, Cinnabon opened over 300 new locations, outpacing nearly every other fast-food brand except Wingstop, which opened 382 net new stores, according to QSR Magazine. This impressive expansion reflects both the growing consumer love for cinnamon treats and savvy business strategy.
However, the surge was not driven solely by the iconic cinnamon rolls. Cinnabon has strategically expanded its beverage offerings, incorporating Seattle’s Best coffee across its nationwide stores and introducing trendy “Swirled Sodas” to capitalize on the popular dirty soda craze. These additions diversify the menu and attract a wider customer base.
Co-Branding and Leadership: Keys to Sustainable Growth
Beyond menu innovation, Cinnabon has leveraged co-branded locations with sister brands Auntie Anne’s and Carvel. This strategic pairing enhances sales per store by offering customers a variety of complementary treats and experiences under one roof.
New leadership has also played a pivotal role in Cinnabon’s success. Since early 2025, Urvi Patel has served as chief brand officer, steering the brand through a period of transformation. Patel’s appointment is part of a wider leadership overhaul at Cinnabon’s parent company, GoTo Foods, which welcomed a new CEO last year. These changes have brought renewed focus and innovation to the brand’s growth strategy.
As cinnamon continues to capture the public’s palate, Cinnabon’s blend of nostalgic appeal, product innovation, and strategic expansion positions it well for continued success in the competitive fast-food and snack market.
