Popeyes and Buffalo Wild Wings Are Invading Grocery Aisles

Date:

Restaurants Expand Their Reach Beyond Dining Rooms

Here’s the good news: Restaurant spending rose 3.3% year over year in July, according to the Bank of America Institute. This growth is attributed to a combination of cooling menu inflation and rising wages, signaling a positive trend for the dining-out sector. Despite this recovery, some restaurant chains are strategically diversifying by expanding into the consumer packaged goods (CPG) market, as reported by FoodNavigator. This approach allows brands to maintain visibility and consumer engagement beyond the physical restaurant experience.

Buffalo Wild Wings Collaborates with Mars-Owned Pringles

Buffalo Wild Wings, a well-known wing-centric restaurant chain, recently partnered with Mars-owned Pringles to launch three unique chip flavors: Parmesan Garlic, Medium Buffalo, and Asian Zing. Timed strategically for football season, this collaboration taps into the sports-viewing culture that is synonymous with Buffalo Wild Wings’ brand identity. Notably, this marks the wing chain’s second venture into snack products, following a 2025 collaboration with Slim Jim. Such partnerships highlight how restaurants are leveraging their brand equity to innovate in retail snack categories and engage consumers at home.

Popeyes Launches Bake-At-Home Biscuits

Meanwhile, Popeyes is extending its footprint in the grocery aisle with the launch of bake-at-home biscuits, available since May. These biscuits are sold at major retailers including Walmart, H-E-B, and select Target stores. This product line complements Popeyes’ existing grocery sauces, reinforcing the brand’s presence beyond its physical locations. Matt Rubin, Chief Marketing Officer at Popeyes, described this move as a way for fans to “celebrate the Popeyes brand beyond our restaurants.” This strategy not only diversifies revenue streams but also strengthens brand loyalty by allowing customers to recreate part of the dining experience at home.

Overall, these initiatives by Buffalo Wild Wings and Popeyes illustrate a broader trend where restaurant brands are exploring innovative ways to remain relevant and accessible, especially as consumer behaviors evolve. By entering the CPG space, these chains are building new touchpoints with customers, enhancing brand visibility, and creating additional revenue opportunities in a competitive market.
