Triomics Secures $22 Million to Revolutionize Oncology Data Management with AI
Triomics, an innovative startup developing an AI-powered platform to streamline and automate data-intensive tasks for oncologists and administrative teams, has successfully raised $22 million in its Series B funding round. This significant investment will enable the company to expand its capabilities in clinical trial matching, appointment preparation, and regulatory reporting within cancer care centers.
The Series B funding round was led by Battery Ventures and saw participation from returning investors including Nexus Venture Partners, Lightspeed, Y Combinator, and others. This infusion of capital underscores strong investor confidence in Triomics’ mission to reduce the administrative burden in oncology through tailored artificial intelligence solutions.
Addressing Complexity in Oncology Care
Advancements in oncology have improved patient survival rates, but this positive trend comes with challenges. Extended patient lifespans generate dense, multi-year medical records that healthcare professionals must painstakingly review. These records can encompass thousands of pages, including physician notes, imaging and pathology reports, and even scanned faxes, creating a time-consuming hurdle for clinical staff.
“We have seen medical records [with] thousands of pages of information,” said Sarim Khan, co-founder and CEO of Triomics, in an interview with TechCrunch. The company’s platform is designed to simplify this complexity by extracting and summarizing critical patient information, allowing clinicians to quickly grasp essential data without navigating cumbersome paperwork.
From Clinical Trial Matching to Streamlined Patient Summaries
Founded in 2021, Triomics initially concentrated on helping oncologists identify appropriate clinical trials for their patients. The startup raised $15 million in Series A funding in mid-2024 to accelerate this effort. As large language model (LLM) technologies advanced, Triomics expanded its platform to include verifiable patient summaries that integrate seamlessly with clinicians’ existing tools.
These AI-generated summaries reduce appointment preparation time significantly, enabling oncologists to spend more quality time with their patients. In a field as complex as oncology, where patient histories are multifaceted and staff burnout rates are high, such efficiency gains have a meaningful impact on care delivery and staff well-being.
Regulatory Compliance and Specialized AI Models
Beyond clinical efficiency, Triomics also automates the submission of tumor reports to government registries—a legally mandated process for cancer centers that is often tedious and prone to error. This automation further lightens the administrative load and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements.
Unlike generic AI summarization tools, Triomics’ models are specifically trained on oncology data, a distinction that appeals to prestigious institutions such as Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK) and Yale Cancer Center. This domain-specific focus enhances the accuracy and relevance of the AI outputs, providing clinicians with trustworthy and actionable insights.
Competitive Landscape and Rapid Growth
Triomics faces competition from AI medical scribe technologies like Abridge and Microsoft’s Nuance, which specialize in documenting patient-doctor conversations. However, Triomics differentiates itself through its oncology-specific training and comprehensive approach to data summarization and automation.
Despite this competitive environment, Triomics is experiencing rapid growth. Sarim Khan reported that the company has quadrupled its enterprise customer base over the past year and achieved a tenfold increase in annualized recurring revenue, reflecting strong market demand for specialized AI solutions in cancer care.
