Munich’s EcoG raises €16M to boost fast-charging infrastructure
German tech firm EcoG recently secured €16M in funding to expand its electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. Based in Munich, the company is known for developing technology that supports the rollout of EV charging stations for commercial and transport operators. This fresh injection of capital, led by GET Fund, Extantia, and Bayern Kapital, is earmarked for further deployment of EcoG’s platform and partnerships.
“As an EV driver, I know very well that EV charging has a serious reliability and interoperability problem. EcoG’s operating system has successfully shown to solve this,” says Carlota Ochoa Neven Du Mont, Principal at Extantia and EcoG board member. She further adds, “They have built a mission-critical platform and become an indispensable partner to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), powering the future of EV charging.”
Capital Utilisation and Expansion Plans
The new funding allows EcoG to scale its charging platform and accelerate its international expansion in the commercial fast-charging infrastructure. The company also intends to standardise its product ‘EcoG Universal Core’, which is currently in use in 25,000 charging units worldwide.
Additionally, EcoG plans to establish a testing and development centre in Bavaria. Here, they will examine megawatt charging for electric trucks and charging hubs in real-world settings, partnering with hardware and logistics companies.
Creating an Efficient Charging Infrastructure
EcoG’s Munich team is working on the operating system for commercial fast-charging infrastructure. The software enables manufacturers to produce fast-charging stations and allows operators to manage charging hubs across multiple sites.
Jörg Heuer, CEO and co-founder of EcoG, views this as the next phase in the evolution of e-mobility. He says, “The early years of e-mobility are now successfully behind us. The next phase is professionalisation combined with sustainable growth, for example at logistics depots.” Heuer further adds, “Our technology puts us at the forefront of enabling the transition to efficient, standardised charging infrastructure.”
